SVG and PNG, and which one to use

This library ships SVG files. An SVG stores shapes. You can make it tiny on a worksheet or huge on a poster and the lines stay clean.

When SVG is the right file

Use the SVG in slides, modern Word documents, and design tools such as Figma, Illustrator, or Inkscape. It is also the right file if you want to recolor a shape.

When you need a PNG

Some blog editors, older apps, and a few printers only accept PNG. If the picture page offers Download PNG, use that file. It already has an empty background. If the page only offers an SVG, open it in Inkscape and export a PNG. A width of 1000 pixels is enough for a blog header. Use 2000 if the picture will be printed large.

Background

These drawings do not include a background shape. On a white page they look like they sit on white. On a colored slide, the paper shows through. If you export a PNG, keep the background transparent unless you specifically want a white tile.
